Brainstorm- What are your interests both individually and as a couple. What are some fun places you and your love like to hang out? What hobbies do you both enjoy? What locations and props could be incorporated into your photo shoot that would make it personal and unique? cute/fun? romantic/dramatic? superhero like? mysterious?
Don't be afraid to ask your photographer for help, they have experience and a creative eye.
Creative photos can happen anywhere, literally anywhere. Your neighborhood, a golf course, car wash, library, city hall, mini golf course, mall, hotel, beach, sidewalk, parking lot, etc. It can be more important to give emphasis to locations that have personal meaning to your relationship.
Props - Make it personal!
Do you and your other half share the same favorite movie? Try dressing up like characters, or bring props from the movie.
Dress up for work and get some cute shots in a library or office like setting. Another option could be a restaurant or bar.
Was one of your first dates playing miniature golf? Do either of you like to play musical instruments? Sports? Do you have a favorite sports team? Is it the same as your partners? Or do the teams battle each other?
Even furniture can be creative and fun! Old or antique chairs, sofas, or a couch can look amazing when placed in an urban or rural environment.
Some classic props are flowers, hats, umbrellas, balloons.
What do you have that could be fun to use?
Glitter, sequences, tinsel, powder, water, confetti, feathers (maybe from a pillow fight) all make for a fun photo shoot, not to mention the interesting and diverse photos you'll get!
Costumes and Outfits!
Adding variety- Something Nice, Something Casual and Something FUN!
Coordinate colors, coordinate styles and coordinate themes! Nothing matching, think complementing colors for dynamic photos.
What is the theme of your wedding? Are you sending out photos with invitations? What kind of photo would capture the theme for your guests?
Of course you want the pictures to give to your parents and future parents in law, but what photos would you like to have hanging on your wall? Reminding you of the love you share, the adventures you've endured together, the places you want to go? Or maybe just to remember a super fun photo shoot!
*Guidelines for flattering photos
Wear dark, solid colors, nothing lose or hanging. Form fitting, simple clothing works best.
Ladies- No A-line dresses, bell sleeves, or baggy clothing (it makes areas of the body appear wider then they are, we want to expose only your true beauty, nothing exaggerated). Stay away from tube tops, low cut blouses and short skirts.
Guys- stay away from hoodies and sweaters with a collar- we don't want anything blocking that handsome face!
